There’s a new strategy that I want to share with you that will get more people to read and respond to what you write, and it’s called “Launching a blog post”. It’s pretty simple. You contact your list of subscribers, and tell them that a new blog post is coming their way very soon. Tell them the day and time it will come out. Then launch the blog post, make it go live at the day and time you’ve promised, and then remind them again to comment.
There are many good reasons to do this. First of all, this makes people assign more value to your free content. You didn’t just put something in front of them, you told them to look out for it, you delivered on your promise and then you reminded them once again to check it out.
When you launch your blog post, you can also justify good reasons for them to read and to leave comments. Leaving comments makers your blog better, it gives you something to respond to and for others to respond to, and above all, it gives your commenters extra exposure.
My favorite reason to launch a blog post is that it makes it a lot easier to connect that free blog post to a paid offer without it seeming awkward. Let’s say I was about to launch a report about how to easily record videos. Instead of just launching that report, I could make a blog post first about the common mistakes people make when making videos. I can launch that blog post ahead of time, so people get used to getting announcements for things before they happen, and getting reminders, then I launch the blog post, people participate in the conversation, and now, when it comes the time to launch the report about making videos it’s less of a transition. They’re already used to participating, and in the first instance, participating meant commenting, in the second one it meant buying, and they’re also used to this launch sequence, whether it’s for a blog post or for a paid report.
That’s why you should definitely launch your next blog post to your list. It will make people assign more value to your free content, you have time to give people a good reason to comment and it makes it easier to tie that blog post into an upcoming offer, without it seeming awkward.Recommended ...
